"Grace"
135 pound Clean and Jerk, 30 reps
Use 95 pounds, 65 pounds or broomstick as needed and post time and load to comments.
*Watch this 1948 cartoon called "Make mine freedom," it was made by the Bugs Bunny people and Harding College. It's scary to see how close it is to our current political climate. Don't drink the "ism!"

I know questions will come up so here are the answers I have found so far as to the cleans.
ReplyDelete"Even though it says Clean & Jerk, Grace is typically done as a 'ground to overhead anyhow with a clean grip' workout."
"We've already got questions as to if this is full squat clean or power clean. To that I say: It's at your own discretion, just make note of it. Videos show power cleans mostly as far as i've seen, yet "clean" is listed insinuating squat clean. It's a mystery to all! You get to make the decision today."
My advice is that you do it however you did it the last time. Or if you had a time of under 2 minutes doing power cleans, you should change to squat cleans.
Also if you have never done this workout before, I strongly recommend just doing POWER CLEANS until you get your times down.
Just a few more quotes to add further clarity to the subject.
ReplyDeleteFrom Adrian Bozman: "Steven: I understand where you are coming from, but you're wrong. Grace has always been 'anyhow' for official times. Coach Rut and Coach Glassman have both chimed in on this in the past. Any video demoing it (male or female...I can think of at least three versions off the top of my head) has had power cleans, power jerks and even push presses mixed in. This is nothing new on this workout.
That out of the way, this only becomes an issue when comparing your times to others. I've said this before, but do it both ways. Do it both ways inside the same workout. Get it all faster. One is not 'better' than the other, just different...but for Grace, anyhow is ok."
From Glassman: "There was never anything for Coach Rutman to lobby. Grace has always been a "two-handed anyhow" as the video portrays convincingly.
If we said "two-hands any how" we'd then have to offer advice as to "how".
C&J will be most efficient. Max output will, however, kill the efficient technique. The productive work is the same regardless of technique. The metabolic costs of the workout increase dramatically with weakening/failing technique."
So there you have it. Grace is done two hands any how over head. Do it the most efficient way possible! Good luck! Can't wait to see the times.
Lewis I am calling you out here. You need to smoke Scott on this one. Get it done!
Miss ya guys.
Jake
I will be gone on Sunday, but will make it up next week.
ReplyDeleteIf your times are sub 2 min, why not snatch it if its ground to overhead anyway possible? Not saying I will try that, or be sub 2 minute.
